Workshop 2

Debate Session

Teachers’ Records Should Be Public Knowledge

Witness a live debate between two sides of a school debate-team resolve the controversial issue of whether teachers’ records should be public knowledge or not.

In some fields, professionals’ records are available to the public. This is not the case in the educational field. Parents and schools do not have the possibility to consult a teacher’s record before entrusting children to his or her care.

These records would include educational background, certificates obtained, hours of teaching, hours of professional development, disciplinary standing.

The debate team will argue the advantages and disadvantages of such records being available to the community.

Jumeirah College students will be representing the proposition and opposition teams.

The session is limited to an audience of 150. We recommend that you place your name on the priority list while registering. For those that have registered before this option was made available, you may amend your registration online.

Audience: All educators
