Shared Writing and Guided Reading

Dee Reid

Dee Reid is a freelance lecturer leading courses and INSET across the U.K. Formerly she worked at the Reading and Language Information Centre at Reading University where she completed her M.A. in Children’s Literature and undertook an investigation into the written vocabulary of 7 – 8 year old children. This research became the book ‘Word for Word’ (L.D.A.)

Her experience of teaching and lecturing offers an excellent combination of practical information, academic research and knowledge of resources. She is consultant to ‘Catch Up’ – a Wave 3 literacy intervention programme for struggling readers ages 5-11.

Dee has published widely. She is co-author of ‘Storyworlds’ (Harcourt Primary), ‘Literacy World’ (Harcourt Primary) and she is series editor for six books for the Foundation Stage called ‘Starting with Role Play’. Dee has been working with Heinemann on a new reading scheme for Special Needs children. This exciting new project includes a revolutionary software package to help struggling readers and it will be available in Spring 2006.
